About StarPlay
StarPlay ("we," "our," or "us") is a high-definition IPTV media player application available on the Google Play Store. The app lets users load M3U playlists and Xtream Codes API connections to stream live TV channels, movies, and TV series in stunning 4K and HD quality.
By installing or using StarPlay, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app and discontinue use.
Data We Collect
We collect the absolute minimum data needed to run and improve StarPlay. Here is exactly what we collect:
- Playlist & API Credentials (Local Only): M3U URLs, Xtream Codes host addresses, usernames, and passwords you enter are stored exclusively on your device. We have zero access to this data.
- Device Information: Device model, Android OS version, screen resolution, app version, and language โ used only for compatibility checks and bug fixing.
- Usage & Analytics Data: Screens visited, features used, and session duration โ collected anonymously to understand how the app is used and improve it.
- Crash & Error Reports: Automatically generated logs when the app crashes, including device state and error stack traces โ used strictly to fix bugs. No personal data is included.
- Watch History (Local Only): Recently watched channels, movies, and series, along with playback positions, are saved locally to resume viewing. This never leaves your device.
- Network Information: Connection type (Wi-Fi or mobile data) to optimize streaming quality. Not stored beyond the active session.
How We Use Your Data
Data collected is used solely for the following purposes:
- App Functionality: To connect to your IPTV playlists, load channel lists, EPG (Electronic Program Guide) data, and enable smooth media playback.
- Performance & Stability: To detect crashes, fix bugs, reduce buffering, and improve overall streaming performance on your device.
- User Experience: To remember your preferred channels, video quality settings, subtitle preferences, and UI configurations between sessions.
- Product Improvement: To understand which features are most popular and guide future updates โ using only anonymous, aggregated analytics data.
- Customer Support: If you contact us, we use information you voluntarily share (such as device info or error descriptions) to resolve your issue.
We never use your data for advertising profiles, behavioral tracking, or any commercial purpose beyond operating and improving StarPlay.
Content & Playlists
StarPlay functions as a player for M3U playlists and Xtream Codes API connections. Here is how your playlist data is handled:
- Local Storage Only: All M3U URLs, Xtream API credentials, and loaded channel/VOD/series lists are stored exclusively on your device's local storage. We have no access to this information.
- No Playlist Syncing: We do not transmit, back up, upload, or sync your playlist data to any cloud server or our own servers at any time.
- Content Responsibility: StarPlay does not own, host, or control any content streamed through the app. You are solely responsible for ensuring the content you access is legally licensed in your region.
- Third-Party IPTV Providers: When you connect to an IPTV provider via M3U URL or Xtream Codes API, your connection goes directly to that provider's servers. Their own privacy policy and terms govern that interaction โ not ours.
Data Storage & Retention
- Local Device Storage: All user-generated data (playlists, credentials, watch history, preferences) is stored on your device only and never uploaded to our servers.
- Analytics & Crash Data: Anonymous diagnostic data is retained by our third-party analytics providers for up to 14 months before automatic deletion.
- Support Communications: If you email us for help, messages are retained only as long as necessary to resolve your issue and no longer than 12 months.
- No User Database: StarPlay does not operate a server-side user database. We do not store user accounts, profiles, or personal records.
- Deletion on Uninstall: Uninstalling StarPlay permanently removes all locally stored app data from your device.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Information is only shared in these strictly limited cases:
- Analytics Providers: Anonymized, aggregated usage statistics with services like Google Firebase Analytics to understand app performance. No personally identifiable information is included.
- Crash Reporting Services: Automated error logs (no personal data) with services like Firebase Crashlytics to help identify and fix technical issues.
- Legal Compliance: If required by law, court order, or government authority, or to protect the rights and safety of StarPlay users.
- Business Transfer: In the event of a merger or acquisition, with at least 30 days' prior notice given to users.
Third-Party Services
StarPlay integrates the following third-party services, each subject to its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase Analytics: Anonymous app usage tracking. Firebase Privacy Policy โ
- Firebase Crashlytics: Automated crash and error reporting. Crashlytics Privacy Policy โ
- Google Play Services: Core Android services including app licensing and updates. Google Privacy Policy โ

- Your IPTV Provider: Connections made to your configured IPTV service are governed by that provider's own privacy policy, not ours.
Data Security
We take reasonable and industry-standard steps to protect your data:
- Encryption in Transit: All data sent between StarPlay and external services uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- Local Encryption: Sensitive locally stored data (such as Xtream Codes credentials) is protected using Android's encrypted SharedPreferences or Keystore.
- No Central User Database: Since we don't maintain a personal user database, there is no central server holding your information that could be breached.
- Data Minimization: We follow a strict "collect only what's necessary" principle to reduce privacy risk by design.
- Regular Updates: We release updates to patch security vulnerabilities. We strongly recommend keeping StarPlay up to date.
No digital system can guarantee 100% security. We encourage you to protect your device with a screen lock and to be cautious when granting app permissions.
